Hot Take A very website for URL check

curious I got this: (I am using Quad9 DNS & Checkpoint Harmony, but unclear what blocked it, could have been my router firewall too... or none of those)

An error occurred during a connection to check.lionic.com. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.
Error code: SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG
  • The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.

Doesn't seem like Quad9 blocks it: Quad9 | A public and free DNS service for a better security and privacy

My vote would be Checkpoint, or maybe the firewall.

In your specific case, given that you're using Checkpoint Harmony and Quad9 DNS, the most probable cause is the Checkpoint Harmony software. Security suites like this often include an SSL inspection or web filtering feature that intercepts and analyzes encrypted connections to check for threats. The software could be blocking the check.lionic.com domain for a security reason and returning a "blocked" page, which then triggers the SSL error in your browser. While Quad9 is unlikely to be the cause of this specific error, your router's firewall is also a possibility if it's configured for deep packet inspection or has a specific rule blocking that domain.

I cannot figure out the cause; might be some regional restrictions.
For me, it has loaded right now as usual, inspected its certificate (still valid), and checked a url sample (working).

when my router blocks something, it typically sends me an email, just checked and none, although router has a geofilter that may have routinely blocked it without an email. no bigee. improper SSL then sounds like Harmony. thanks y'all for the feedback.
