Anyone using this program these days? Whats it like? I have heard there web guard is very good and so are the signatures
This is a paid suite so lets take a look at its competition :
Avast Internet Security
Kaspersky Internet Security
Norton Internet Security
ESET Smart Security
G-Data Internet Security
F-Secure Internet Security
So is Avira better than any of this suites?
The answer (in my opinion) is NO. Why? Avira didn't update their suite for years now, yes they move to an higher version but they didn't add or really improved any feature. The antivirus engine and web guard are good but they have their limits and won't be able to stop most of the zero day malware if put to a test.
Their behavior blocker engine needs some real improvements and at the current level it can't be compared with Norton's , Gdata's or F-Secure BB.
With the firewall even on default settings , a user will still be prompt for basic trusted application so Avira really needs to updates their Trusted Vendors list.
The Firewall alerts give limited information and are hard to understated for the average user.
In the latest '
Whole Product Dynamic Tests' conducted by Av-Comparatives, Avira got the 9th place behind Norton ,ESET , Kaspersky and other suites , blocking 96,7% of the malware.
